A LOW PASS FILTER FOR INCIDENT DETECTION

This paper describes a low pass filter to be used for incident detection. Automatic incident detection (AID) involves a traffic detection system and an incident detection algorithm. A new algorithm was developed after observing that existing algorithm performance can improve if detector data are filtered before use.
