EXTRACTION AND RECOGNITION OF CIRCULAR ROAD SIGNS USING ROAD SCENE COLOR IMAGES

This paper presents a method for extracting and recognizing circular road signs in a road scene color image. An extraction method is proposed that combines a genetic algorithm with clustering to search out color and shape. The sign is then recognized using a template matching system. An application to a safety driving support system is described.
