THE INTELLIGENT TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM FOR MOTOR VEHICLES

Y U Dianjun, W U Ye · Journal of Highway and Transportation Research and Development · 1998

A distant and non-touch wireless identification system consisting of radio-frequency inquirers and active radio-frequency IC cards fixed on vehicles is introduced in this paper. The authors propose the principle and method that close-distance moving and static objectives are identified by using the system to enter and sense necessary data into and from the IC radio-frequency cards, hereby realizing the automatic toll collection of motor vehicles. The article covers the following subjects: (1) the principle of intelligent toll collection for motor vehicles; (2) the working principle of the system; (3) the non-touch, distant and high-degree reliable data transmission system; and (4) application of radio-frequency identification techniques.
