Timed decision tables: A model for embedded system representation and optimization
Jian Li · 1996
We present a tabular model, called Timed Decision Table (TDT), of embedded system functionality. This model is useful in various system design tasks such asscheduling, interface resolution, and hardware/software partitioning. TDT model is particularly useful in implemen-tation of source-level transformations called presynthesis optimization of system description. We have demonstrated the usefulness and power of this model by implementing a presynthesis tool based on TDT optimization techniques. We have investigated the meaning and use of behavioral Don't Cares in the context of TDT. Finally, we present an algorithm to identify mutually exclusive operations using TDT model. Information on mutually exclusive operations can be used to obtain better scheduling and binding results in high-level synthesis of digital circuits. iii To my friends here at UIUC iv ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
