COMPONENTS FOR THE AUTOMATED GMAW PROCESS

For a successful automated GMAW system, several components must be arranged in a closed control loop . After briefly describing the general features of such systems, the authors discuss recent research and development at the Technische Hochschule, Aachen, in the following areas: power sources ; pre-programming ; process control by supervision ; mathematical modelling ; and sensor systems .
