CALCULATING THE STABILITY OF EARTH DAMS. ANALYSIS OF CERTAIN PROCEDURES, AND PROPOSAL OF A NEW PROCEDURE
U. Ravaglioli · 1977
Some of the methods of slices that are frequently used in common practice have been made comparable; criticism of the different hypothesis and procedures has cleared up the limits of applicability of each of them. A new method is proposed, based on the assumption that the relation is the same between tangential and normal forces acting on the sides of the slices and the same forces acting on the base. From that, a second safety factor F is derived which provides for a quantitative judgement of the internal state of equilibrium as corresponding to the safety factor F. /Author/TRRL/
