TRAFFIC AND TRAVEL INFORMATION BROADCASTING : PROTOCOLS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

In this article the authors state that the broadcasting of traffic and travel information is likely to continue for some years via existing delivery methods such as RDS-TMC, teletext and spoken radio and television broadcasts. Several new delivery technologies such as DAB DVB, GSM and the Internet, however, are being developed to extend and enhance the provision of European traveler information . Background on the provision of travel information services and explanations of the new TPEG (Traffic Protocols Experts Group) protocols are also presented in this article
