Systems: Modelling and Analysis
I.J. Nagrath, Mahesh Gopal · 1983
SYSTEMS Modelling and Analysis covers three main aspects: Systems Modelling, Signals and Systems Analysis. It explains in detail the unified approach to the mathematical modelling of engineering systems—electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, thermal and chemical. A large number of systems exanjples including some on socio-economic systems are given. The analysis of continuous and discrete signals and analysis of linear systems—continuous-time, discrete-time with deterministic and stochastic inputs— using time domain and transform domain methods are also included. The book presents the stability concepts of linear systems and z-, Laplace- and Fouriertransform techniques. The book will be extremely useful to undergraduate students in all branches of engineering as well as to practising engineers of various disciplines. It could also be used for a course at the graduate level for those not previously exposed to the systems approach. I J Nag rath obtained his BE with honours in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rajasthan in 1951 and an MS from the University of Wisconsin in 1956. He started his career in industry and later shifted to teaching; currently he is Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pi Ian i. He has co-authored two books—Control Systems Engineering and Modern Power System Analysis and has also contributed many research papers, some of which have been awarded certificates of merit. M Gopal obtained his BE with honours in Electrical Engineering in 1968, an ME in Control Systems from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in 1970 and a Ph D from the University of Rajasthan in 1976. He has been teaching since 1970 and is currently an Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He has co-authored Control Systems Engineering with Prof. Nagrath and has also contributed many research papers
