The International Conference in Topology in Moscow, September 4–10, 1935, was notable in several ways. To start, it was the first truly international conference in a specialized part of mathematics, on a broad scale. Next, there were three major breakthroughs toward future methods in topology of great import for the future of the subject. And, more striking yet, in each of these the first presenter turned out not to be alone: At least one other had been working up the same material. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
