IVHS TRAVELLER INFORMATION INTERCHANGE: THE STATE OF THE STANDARDS

J Wang, S. M. Scott · Moving Toward Deployment. Proceedings of the IVHS America Annual Meeting. 2 VolumesIVHS America · 1994

This paper discusses North American efforts to create standards for traveller information interchange. The SAE International Traveller Information Interchange Standards Working Group is currently developing standards for traveller information interchange and location coding, in conjunction with the FHWA and ENTERPRISE. Because international standards are highly desirable, the working group will try to coordinate with the International Standards Organization Technical Committee 204 efforts. Draft standards may be ready for formal balloting by the end of 1994 for a communications bearer independent format, several communications bearer application protocols, and data message lists. Location coding algorithms are being developed with FHWA funding, and the first drafts should be ready by 1995.
