Hand Gesture Segmentation

In today’s world, the impact of modern computer system increases on everyday life. So Human Computer Interaction (HCI) has become more and more important in our daily lives. Also as now a day, the computing, communication and display technologies progress, the existing HCI techniques like mice, keyboards, limit the speed and naturalness of our interaction. Use of hand gesture can be used to provide natural interaction. Hand image segmentation is the most important step in every hand gesture recognition system. All subsequent steps heavily rely on the quality of the segmentation. The data which is lost due to improper segmentation can be hardly recovered in later phases of image understanding process. In this paper we present one algorithm to detect hand on plain, uniform background and another algorithm for complex static background.
