A colored Petri net for regional synchronization in situated multiagent systems

Interaction is central to multi-agent systems. In this paper we look at agents that interact by performing simultaneous actions in their environment. Simultaneous actions are interfering actions that are executed together and that produce a compound result. To act simultaneously agents need to synchronize their actions. Synchronization of actions is typically established by one centralized synchronizer that ensures for each action cycle that the actions of all agents are treated simultaneously.
