A distributed-amplifier based transversal-filter for Gbit/s spread-spectrum systems

A transversal filter for direct sequence spread-spectrum systems is proposed. Based on a modification of the distributed amplifier, the filter allows the implementation of spread-spectrum transmitters and receivers operating in the multigigabit per second regime. A basic complementary transversal filter is envisaged so as to derive a transversal filter best-suited for high-speed spread spectrum systems. Bipolar-multilevel signals can be generated / received using a proper matching technique. The theory of the transversal filter is outlined and simulation results are reported.
