Shallow-Parsing Stylebook for German

The presented system provides a shallow syntactic annotation for unre-stricted German text. It requires POS-annotated text and annotates the layers of chunks, topological fields and clauses. This stylebook gives an overview of the various categories annotated in those different layers. The method-ology of the annotation process is mentioned in those cases where it has an impact on the annotation scheme. Example sentences are taken from real language data, but were simplified where necessary. 1
