Management of oil palm plantations often have constraints, among other issues for plant pests is primarily a disease problem. Therefore, the approach was made to recognize the disease in palm leaves in order to help the performance of the oil palm growers in determining the type of disease on the leaves that get maximum results. Edge detection is the change in the value of the degree of gray that sudden intensity (large) within a short distance. Sobel operator is used to identification facial patterns, especially present in the edge detection algorithm. Support Vector Machine (SVM) is used as a method of classification. Therefore, in this study the authors will apply the edge detection method by combining techniques Sobel operator algorithm to eliminate noise and methods of Support Vector Machine as a classification of disease data on palm leaves.
