Empowering User Interface and User Experience Design with Artificial Intelligence

The rapid growth and complexity of digital technologies ever more demand user-friendly, user-focused and customized interfaces. Traditional user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design processes, although successful, are typically resource-intensive, time-consuming and susceptible to subjective biases. To address these limitations, artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the way digital solutions are created through its integration into design in general, and UI and UX design in particular. In this chapter, we examine the way AI improves usability testing and aesthetic evaluation. We also investigate AI-driven automation, personalization and adaptation approaches in UI/UX design, and integrated frameworks that combine advanced AI analysis and human-centered design. According to our analysis, even if AI allows tedious tasks to be automated and contents to be personalized in real time, several issues remain about interpretability, bias, domain-specific restrictions and the preservation of human creativity.
