Nowadays, the expanding network of interconnected devices in the Internet of Things (IoT) raises serious security issues, with authentication being a primary concern. Conventional centralized methods are inadequate for addressing these threats, highlighting the need for stronger and more decentralized security solutions. In this regard, we propose ‘ECB-MFA’, a robust and secure authentication framework specifically developed for IoT ecosystems, aimed at ensuring reliable and trustworthy data exchange among connected devices. ECB-MFA enhances security by combining biometric data, PINs, and device identifiers with a decentralized Blockchain-based authentication mechanism to prevent unauthorized access and ensure the integrity of sensitive information. The proposed scheme is examined through rigorous security validation using Scyther as tool. The findings indicate that ECB-MFA delivers substantial advancements in both protection and operational efficiency, confirming its potential as a reliable solution for real-world deployment in the healthcare settings.
