Revolutionising document security: OCR-based signature verification

Aishwarya · 2025

The verification of a person’s signature plays a vital role in determining their identity, detecting fraudulent activity, and validating documents. Traditional methods of manually verifying a signature tend to have a large margin for error so automating this process is crucial. This research focuses on the use of optical character recognition (OCR) to extract text and structural components for authentication purposes. This work consists of several parts, from image pre-processing and feature extraction to processing and classification using machine learning. The system aims to increase accuracy, reliability, and security when authenticating signatures in some applications such as banking, legal documents, and other financial transactions that require precise signature verification.
