Excerpt: Rapid inroads of digital communication technology into personal spaces are transforming the platforms of public discourse with implications to conditions shaping empowerment and marginalization. In these digitized platforms, spaces for empowering individuals are expanding but the algorithmic filters of communication technology are also pushing collectives of marginalized communities of the Global South into the sidelines or outright obscurity.
