As AI technologies become more integrated into key organizational processes like hiring, leadership, and decision-making, they hold the potential to either reinforce or mitigate existing social biases. This symposium shifts the conversation from viewing AI as a threat to inclusion, to recognizing it as a tool that can actively foster inclusive environments. Through a combination of qualitative, experimental, and mixed-methods research, the symposium investigates the ways AI can be used to support inclusion, focusing on how AI-driven interventions can mitigate biases, personalize experiences, and create equitable opportunities for historically marginalized groups. The studies presented explore a range of topics, from AI-supported hiring practices and gender-fair language interventions to conversational chatbots that help leaders promote inclusive behaviors within their teams. The symposium emphasizes the importance of intentional, action-oriented planning to ensure AI technologies are thoughtfully applied to enhance inclusion, while also advocating for more nuanced, scalable approaches to fostering equitable, inclusive workplaces through AI.
