Rasch Model and Use Cases

This chapter introduces the research background and Rasch-based use cases with focus on test equating, practice, and problem solving in China&s;s MET, College English Test (CET), and Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), some ideas of which are disclosed for the first time in English. A more comprehensive introduction to the application of Rasch model to test equating is addressed, exploring the concepts of test equating, the conditions that should be met for conducting test equating, the specific methods of test equating, and totally 13 software packages used for test equating in the psychometrics, the Rasch-based research fields are presented with comments to guide readers to use the programs properly. Important translation works are introduced. Research background and use cases of Rasch model in Malaysia and other countries and regions are also presented with some details. In particular, details are given to Rasch Measurement Special Interest Group (SIG) and International Association for Computerized Adaptive Testing (IACAT).
