Introduction to Generative AI on AWS

This chapter covers the capabilities of Amazon Bedrock within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem. It explains the current state of generative artificial intelligence (AI), along with the life cycle that can be expected of a generative AI solution. The chapter explores how local environment is getting ready for developing generative AI solutions on AWS. Foundational models are a product of advancements in deep learning, a subset of machine learning, which itself is a branch of AI. Two main technologies make up foundational models in Amazon Bedrock, namely diffusion models and transformers. Generative AI has seen much use in software development, especially in having it as a coding teammate to work alongside in completing code. Python is a popular language in developing generative AI applications due to its simplicity and readability. The Amazon Bedrock Playground is a sandbox environment that is provided to let customers experiment with different foundational models.
