QaaMS: Quantum-as-a-Microservice Proof-of-Concept Framework for Enterprise Quantum Algorithm Integration with .NET 9

This paper presents QaaMS (Quantum-as-a-Microservice), a proof-of-concept framework demonstrating how quantum algorithms can be exposed as REST/gRPC endpoints in .NET 9 environments using microservice patterns. The framework provides an abstraction layer enabling quantum algorithms (Grover’s search, QAOA optimization, and quantum random number generation) to integrate into existing business workflows through Microsoft Quantum Simulator via C# wrapper classes that simulate quantum behavior. Experimental validation demonstrates a 569 ms average response time across 252 requests with 8.61 requests per second throughput while maintaining 100% service availability in development environment testing. The system architecture demonstrates microservice patterns through containerization with Docker and Kubernetes orchestration, telemetry integration, and security features. All results are reproducible with Docker containerization and Locust load testing. The framework addresses the gap between quantum algorithm development and experimental deployment, enabling organizations to explore quantum computing capabilities through familiar microservice patterns in development environments.
