Gagandeep Kaur, Soumen Sardar, Pardeep Singh Tiwana, Neha Sharma · 2025

This chapter explores the transforming possibilities of blockchain technology in tackling the important issues facing the water supply chain, investigating its uses in improving transparency, traceability, efficiency and sustainability all around the water management lifetime. Water supply chain management refers to systematic planning, coordination and control of activities involved in the production, distribution and consumption of water. The chapter presents the current blockchain and non-blockchain-based methods suggested for traceability of water supply networks. Digital transformation is playing a crucial role in enhancing water supply management by improving efficiency, reducing waste and ensuring sustainable water usage. By means of cloud-based technology, water management systems can develop in strength, adaptability and ability to satisfy urban population needs as well as environmental concerns. Incorporating digital twins into water management enables utilities to secure a more sustainable water source, enhance system resilience and reduce downtime.
