Securing Route Data with Blockchain

This chapter presents the HydroLock System, which is a blockchain solution for ensuring safe water route data and fraud-free operation through decentralized ledger technology and smart contracts. Smart contracts are automatic blockchain programs that implement pre-defined rules on their own without human intervention. In the HydroLock System, these contracts authenticate transactions automatically and make decisions when certain conditions are fulfilled. The chapter illustrates several studies that explore the relationship between blockchain, smart contracts, anomaly detection and compliance measures toward route data security. Machine learning has primarily been applied to improve fraud detection in blockchain systems. Cybersecurity is a primary concern in route information security that uses blockchain technology. Decentralized blockchain technology avoids single points of failure, making water route information tamper-evident and immutable. Automated compliance reporting minimizes errors and increases accountability, providing precise, tamper-proof audit trails in a timely manner.
