Research on the Design and Development of Supply Chain Management Systems

Zheng Grace Ma · Advances in Economics Management and Political Sciences · 2025

The wave of globalisation and digital transformation is profoundly reshaping the paradigm of supply chain management. In the complex and changing international environment, supply chain resilience has become a core strategic issue for enterprises, and the design and development of supply chain management systems not only concerns operational efficiency, but also becomes a strategic pillar for enterprises to build core competitiveness. The growing sustainability requirements have further increased the complexity of system design. Modern supply chain management systems must balance efficiency, resilience, and sustainability, which imposes comprehensive requirements on system architecture. Based on a systematic literature analysis, this review focuses on core journal literature from 2020 to 2025, covering three dimensions: supply chain architecture design, optimisation models, and technology implementation. It also integrates two main threads: the core processes of supply chains and enabling technologies, aiming to clarify the evolution of technologies, analyse the challenges in implementation, and point out future research directions.
