The transition from legacy circuit-switched to packet-switched and Internet Protocol (IP)-based networks has transformed mobile telecommunications, with Voice over New Radio (VoNR) becoming a crucial technology for delivering highquality voice services over 5G networks. This paper evaluates the performance of VoNR when integrated with the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) - Kamailio server, which works as an essential session management component in an open-source IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). An experimental testbed was configured, utilizing the SIP-Kamailio server as the session manager and leveraging Software-Defined Radio (SDR) for flexible and scalable performance testing. The research quantifies metrics, e.g., Mean Opinion Score (MOS), delay, R-factor, and jitter. The findings highlight areas where the combination of VoNR and SIPKamailio excels, contributing to efficient, reliable communication and low-cost 5G network deployment. This research enhances the potential of VoNR-SDR-based solutions for advancements in telecommunications academia and industry sectors.
