27113 Leveraging heuristics based on CK Metrics Suite for quality enhancement in sustainable quantum software development

Deepali Gupta, Shalli Rani, Mudita Uppal · 2025

Early identification of faulty modules in the quantum software development life cycle can greatly benefit the development process enabling the creation of sustainable, high-quality software. The developers can focus on improving the quality of those modules and lowering the chances of introducing defects in the process of development. This can ultimately lead to better quality and sustainable software, improved user satisfaction and lessened development costs. Software heuristics and object-oriented metrics are interwoven with each other and these are generally employed to enhance the security and quality of the quantum software engineering approach. Heuristics plays a vital part in the development of sustainable software products that create an association between metrics and design principles. This chapter concentrates on improving its quality by applying object-oriented metrics, particularly, the CK Metrics Suite and proposes some heuristics based on this metric suite. RStudio is also a popular and powerful tool for the analysis of data, especially in the domain of quantum software engineering. With RStudio, various statistical analyses can be easily performed to create visualizations and develop models to understand the relationships between different variables in the data. In this chapter, 429 documents published over such a long period of time (1961–2023) are analyzed to provide a good overview of the evolution of sustainable software engineering as a discipline and the research topics that have been most prominent during that time.
