Cryptanalysis of Post-Quantum Cryptographic Schemes
Veda Chatiyode, S. Baghavathi Priya · 2025
As quantum computing advances, the security of traditional cryptographic systems faces unprecedented risks, leading to the rise of post quantum cryptography (PQC). This chapter examines how cryptanalysis continues to expose weaknesses in these emerging schemes, with particular attention to the growing role of artificial intelligence. Machine learning methods are shown to detect subtle statistical patterns and enhance side channel attacks, making them powerful tools for evaluating cryptographic resilience. A case study on CRYSTALS Kyber demonstrates how AI can support lattice-based recovery techniques to achieve full key extraction in minutes, highlighting the practical risks of implementation flaws. The discussion also extends to real world systems such as IoT and smart city infrastructures, where limited resources and deployment challenges complicate the adoption of PQC. The chapter concludes by stressing the importance of cryptographic agility and AI aware testing as essential safeguards in the quantum era.
