Blockchain-Driven Evolution of Cloud Service Architectures

Aravind Narayanan · 2025

This paper presents BlockCloud, a framework that integrates blockchain primitives into cloud service architectures to strengthen trust, security, and auditability in regulated domains, with a particular emphasis on insurance applications. The framework leverages on-chain verification and smart contract automation while maintaining cloud-native scalability through hybrid on-chain/off-chain storage, permissioned consensus mechanisms, and oracle-mediated data feeds. The paper further outlines a detailed technical specification of the architecture, a formalized threat model, and an evaluation plan encompassing a prototype stack, performance metrics, and experimental validation. While the work is conceptual, these elements clarify the design rationale and establish a clear pathway toward prototype implementation and empirical assessment.
