Study on the Role of Intelligent Voice Assistant in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language
Qianhui Dai · Information Resources Management Journal · 2025
In the context of globalization, demand for Chinese international education has surged, prompting the need for innovative teaching resources. This study examines the role of intelligent voice assistants in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Over a 12-month period, 480 learners from 24 institutions across eight countries participated in a stratified randomized controlled experiment. The study found that intelligent voice assistants significantly improved pronunciation accuracy, with Arabic native speakers experiencing a 34.2% reduction in third-tone errors and Spanish speakers demonstrating an 18.7% improvement. Learning efficiency increased nonlinearly, and cultural understanding improved with interaction frequency, reaching a 78.3% correct rate in cultural metaphor understanding at 15 weekly interactions. However, challenges remain in speech recognition accuracy and semantic understanding. This research provides empirical evidence for integrating intelligent voice assistants into Chinese language education, supporting the development of “AI + Chinese education” initiatives.
