Leveraging Blockchain and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Integration to Enhance Cybersecurity and Data Security in Industrial Environments

Shweta Jaiswal, Nishtha Agrawal · 2025

It has now become acceptable for blockchain to help upgrade the features of cybersecurity and protect financial transaction data. However, its implementation is fraught with severe cybersecurity and privacy concerns, thereby endangering financial data to risks, including data loss, ransomware attacks, and denial-of-service incidents. These risks include a great magnitude of monetary losses, loss of identity, cyber fraud, destruction of computer networks, and unauthorized release of confidential information. The threats inherent in industrial internet of things (IIoT) systems are countered in the framework through dynamic threat detection, enhanced encryption, and blockchain integration. The framework combines contemporary tools, such as artificial intelligence, threat detection, advanced encryption, and blockchain, to guarantee the desired results in the sphere of data protection and privacy. It also has role-based access control and features to meet the regulatory requirements for enhanced security. Research on this strategy shows significantly positive results for threat protection and information security among firms in the financial sector. IoT transaction installations imply that financial institutions must know how cybersecurity risks may be effectively managed in their context. Besides, this technique not only strengthens protection for sensitive financial information but also guarantees the fulfillment of legal requirements, thus being perfect for protecting IoT-based financial operations. In this work, a comprehensive approach to combat cybersecurity is presented, with efforts to promote the recognition of challenges and threats. This means that as technology progresses, firms are compelled to enhance their applications or tools. Nevertheless, new technologies create cybersecurity risks that must be addressed for safe and effective implementation. Among the adaptive technologies for the cybersecurity of IIoT ecosystems, some are maintaining the integrity of information and achieving consensus throughout a network.
