Droplet-based electricity generator (DEG) has attracted great attention in recent years and has great potential in collecting energy from rainwater. However, the ability to collect information such as rainfall from rain through DEG has not been effectively explored. Herein, a self-powered energy micro-weather station based on DEG was designed. Rainwater is collected through the funnel and dropped onto the DEG from a fixed height, while the output current is collected and used to charge the capacitor. Using the capacitor charging model, the rainfall over a period of time can be estimated by the amount of charge stored by the capacitor, and the precipitation information can be displayed on the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen through STM32 microcontroller. At the same time, DEG and solar panels can be used to power the device to achieve the purpose of obtaining rainwater energy and information through DEG. It is found that the design is stable under different rainfall and rainwater chemical properties.
