Multi-Objective Path Planning for Offshore Wind Farm Vessels Based on A-NSGA-III

Qingjing Cheng, Zhiyong Liu, Jun Ye · 2025

This paper proposes an A-NSGA-III framework for multi-objective ship path planning in offshore wind farms. A hybrid initialization strategy combining greedy algorithms and 8-directional A* generates collision-free initial paths. We establish an optimization model considering energy consumption, path length, and smoothness, integrated with dynamic reference point adaptation. Experimental results demonstrate: (1) Compared to conventional A*, our method reduces energy consumption by 47% and improves smoothness by 76% with comparable path lengths; (2) A-NSGA-III outperforms NSGA-II in IGD, HV and spacing. The proposed solution effectively balances efficiency and safety for vessel navigation in complex wind farm environments.
