DCB-HIoT: A Dual-Channel Blockchain Framework for Secure EHR Management in H-IoT-Based Healthcare Systems
Anita Sahoo, Srichandan Sobhanayak · 2025
The increasing volume of medical records and the emergence of new diseases highlight the need for secure and efficient healthcare data management. Traditional electronic health records (EHRs) face critical security vulnerabilities, including cyber threats and unauthorized access. To address these challenges, this paper proposes DCB-HIoT, a Dual-Channel Blockchain architecture designed for secure and scalable healthcare data sharing. DCB-HIoT operates by leveraging Hyperledger-Fabric with a dual-channel structure, where transactions are efficiently distributed across multiple channels to enhance throughput and reduce network congestion. Smart contracts enforce access control policies, enabling patient-controlled data sharing while maintaining data integrity and security. A comprehensive performance analysis demonstrates that DCB-HIoT outperforms existing models, offering a trustworthy, decentralized, and scalable solution for IoT-driven healthcare systems.
