Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are valid for sensing applications when sensing is desired, but they have the drawback of not being able to afford an optimum amount of the node coverage and the energy expenditure. In this paper, a Circular LEACH Clustering scheme is proposed with the aim of achieving energy efficiency under the desired scope, such as coverage. The energy consumption and redundant coverage of the presented approach is reduced by segmentation of nodes in circular patches and dynamic updated node schedule, respectively. Simulation results show that in terms of LEACH protocols, the proposed method is able to greatly improve LEACH's network survivability, energy consumption and coverage ratio, which is most relevant at present, i.e., the most critical factor.
