Video conferencing is the most relied-upon mode of all communication in the modern world, bringing people across industries into a real-time collaborative environment from wherever they are. Having such a high uptake in society has brought about serious security vulnerabilities, like unauthorized access, identity fraud, session hijacking, and deep fake manipulation. Traditional centralized video conferencing adopts most of the measures of authentication and data management, thus rendering them suspicious to cyber threats and privacy breaches. Blockchain technology here promises to be transformational, with decentralization, immutability, and cryptographic security addressing the respective countermeasures. In this research, the application of blockchain technology in video conferencing systems is examined in terms of typical security concerns such as user authentication, data privacy, deep fake detection, and access control. Taking advantage of the tamper-proof ledger of the blockchain, decentralized identity management, and smart contract-based automation will help make video conferencing platforms better in security, advance data integrity, and reduce reliance on centralized authorities. The comparative study of traditional security mechanisms versus blockchain-based solutions has also drawn the architectural models to be evaluated for blockchain-enhanced video conferencing, together with the newest trends in decentralized communication security. The study indicates that eventually, blockchain technology can greatly benefit video conferencing from a perspective of providing extensive, transparent, and trustless solutions to secure online interactions.
