Emergence of Machine Consciousness to Replace or Mimic Human Consciousness
Mohsen Shahinpoor · 2025
This chapter discusses the emergence of machine consciousness to replace or mimic human consciousness. Artificial consciousness (also known as machine consciousness, synthetic consciousness, or identity-vita-assigned (IVA)-consciousness) refers to a nonbiological, human-created machine that is aware of its existence (being) as well as the resume or vita of its human master. Machine consciousness will help the humanoid robot’s design, development, fabrication, software transfer, and operation in moving capabilities (walking, running, flying, jumping, skiing, swimming, jetting, etc.) of biomimetic humanoid robots with human consciousness. Here, the book covers robotic fundamentals such as homogeneous transformations, Denavit–Hartenberg transformations, and direct and inverse kinematics ( Shahinpoor and Gheshmi, 2015 ). Ways to provide moving and dynamic capabilities to humanoids with IVAconsciousness have also been discussed.
