Rapid increase of data and cloud boom has altered the requirement for secure and scalable data sharing mechanisms. The problem with federated cloud computing security lies in combining several cloud service providers together: the confidentiality, integrity, and controlled access cannot be guaranteed, which is very challenging. This research is contended to develop a secure framework for data sharing in federated cloud domains with the use of end-to-end encryption (E2EE) as the main security mechanism. This study investigates the effects of three cryptographic methods on the efficiency of private data sharing and data exchange: homomorphic encryption, SMPC based attribute-based encryption (ABE), and ABE. Additionally, the impact of access control management rules, blockchain audit trails, and identity management frameworks on traceability and proven trust is examined. The proposed framework is tested by creating a prototype implementation and subjecting it to evaluation in a simulated federated environment. The E2EE in combination with advanced cryptographic protocols can offer the best solutions for data security as well as ensure compliance with regulations like GDPR and HIPAA. It gives critical insights in robust, privacy—that is, privacy centric—design of secure data sharing in federated cloud systems, to ensure large scale collaborative and interoperable cloud architectures.
