The chapter explores how deep learning techniques extend beyond traditional economic applications. The chapter will cover the advantages of using SpectralNet over spectral clustering for handling complex, high-dimensional datasets. A practical research example on clustering of crypto coins demonstrates SpectralNet&s;s effectiveness. Next, the chapter covers algorithms and areas of application of recommender systems, tracing their evolution from content-based and collaborative filtering to neural collaborative filtering, which models non-linear user–item interactions for improved personalization. A research example on building a neural-based recommendation system for a bookstore showcases the practical implementation of these techniques. Finally, the chapter explores non-economic applications of deep learning, including computer vision and multimodal deep learning.
