Overall design of a land and air amphibious UAV

Tao Tong, Qiwu Wu, Yuechan Li, Weicong Tan · 2025

This paper presents a land-air amphibious UAV designed for reconnaissance in GPS-denied environments with severe obstructions. The modular system integrates dual mobility modes (ground crawling/aerial flight) and achieves autonomous navigation (90% obstacle avoidance) and target tracking (≥90% accuracy). Key components include: (1) structural modules (equipment cabin, robotic arm), (2) propulsion system (brushless motors, ESCs), and (3) intelligent perception subsystems. Prototype testing demonstrated 3kg total weight with 65min ground/25min flight endurance and ≤2s mode switching. Field validations confirm operational effectiveness in complex denied environments.
