Exploring Computational Thinking with Preservice Elementary Teachers Through Integrated Computer Science and Outdoor Education

The majority of elementary teacher preparation programs do not yet integrate computer science (CS). This manuscript discusses a novel series of integrated computer science and life science-focused lessons that supported preservice teachers computational thinking (CT), and understandings of related life science content. The lesson spans three days and includes unplugged and plugged computational thinking in conjunction with outdoor education.
