A BLOCKCHAIN AND 3DES-BASED FRAMEWORK FOR CONFIDENTIAL AND TAMPER-PROOF ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS

International Research Journal of Modernization in Engineering Technology and Science · 2025

Healthcare has changed as a result of the growing use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), which make it possible to store, share, and retrieve patient data efficiently. But there are also serious questions raised by this change regarding the security, integrity, and privacy of private medical data.Conventional security models frequently emphasize centralized databases or single-layer encryption, both of which are still susceptible to data manipulation and cyberattacks. This paper suggests a dual-layered security framework that combines blockchain technology with the Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES) in order to address these issues.By encrypting data three times using different keys, the 3DES algorithm improves confidentiality and is far more resilient to brute-force attacks than other encryption techniques.By removing single points of failure and stopping unwanted changes, this guarantees data integrity, transparency, and resilience.By guaranteeing that medical data is correct and unaltered, the combination of 3DES and blockchain not only protects patient records but also fosters trust between patients and healthcare professionals. The suggested framework shows how hybrid security features can greatly increase the dependability of digital healthcare systems and open the door to safer, more open management of medical data.
