Deepfake technology: Emerging threats and countermeasures for military security using AI

Shashank Kumar, Hemprasad Yashwant Patil · 2025

The military community shows widespread concern about deepfake technology which uses Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) because it represents vulnerabilities for disinformation alongside security threats and deception. This study conducts practical research to evaluate deepfake disaster protection systems for military use. The research provides a database system dedicated to identifying deepfakes that focuses on drone aerial surveillance and strategic video background intelligence. CLT operates as the feature extraction tool throughout and MATLAB functions help differentiate real from artificial information. To evaluate adversary manipulation threats we have utilized GANs for generating synthetic video footage of hilly terrain areas. The final part of the paper presents deepfake defence recommendations together with artificial intelligence authentication protocols for military applications.
