Effects of DoS and DDoS attacks on IoT networks

Vandna, Anuj Kumar Gupta · 2025

The consumer and industrial markets are observing a tremendous rise in the terms of IoT which can transform the power of E-Commerce. In this regard, rapid development and deployment of devices and software pose a number of complex obstacles, including the raising volume of data, network scalability and heterogeneity, and security and privacy issues. Security issues like Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) assaults in Internet of Things networks have recently been regarded as one of the increasing issues that require attention. DDoS attacks exploit IoT devices’ limited resources, storage and network capacity. The attacks that result in DDoS are thoroughly discussed in this paper, additionally, from the perspective of a restricted device; the study analyzes the limitations of the methods that are already in use to counter these attacks. alongwith a detailed examination of the deployment of current solutions, including heterogeneity and their effectiveness for IoT-based networks, has been put into practice. The paper will conclude by outlining and discussing intriguing research directions on current trends and future IoT security.
