Shredding paper offers numerous benefits, primarily enhancing data security by preventing identity theft and data breaches, and promoting environmental sustainability through recycling. However, in Nigeria, majority of government and private offices still sell used paper, thereby creating security and environmental disaster. Consequently, the objective of this paper was to design, fabricate and evaluate an automated paper shredder to documents at homes and offices for a low-economic setting using appropriate standard procedures the shredder has a shaft diameter of 20mm, 4 cutting blades with a thickness of 3mm each. A 2.5hp motor with 3000rpm and a torque of 5.94Nm. The shredding capacity and the paper feed rate are 0.6kg/hr and 0.2kg/hr respectively. From the performance of evaluation, the machine has an efficiency of 58%. This did not only meet the functional requirements but also enhances security, making it a valuable asset in modern information management practice
