This study uses the survival signature approach to develop a unified framework for predicting the reliability of a basic hardware-software system.Additionally, failure diagnosis is conducted based on the derived survival signature under specific assumptions. The results show that the reliability function and failure diagnosis measures, incorporating the derived survival signature, accurately capture the distinct failure characteristics of both hardware and software components. This confirms that the survival signature approach effectively captures such systems' behaviour, supporting its future enhancement with advanced software reliability models and practical maintenance improvements.
