Gabrijela Perković, Antun Drobnjak, Ivica Botički · 2025

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) presents a groundbreaking milestone in artificial intelligence (AI) development, and could match, or even surpass human intellectual capabilities. This paper investigates AGI development and discusses the balance between the risks and benefits to our society associated with the AGI use. The most important risks include social and economic instability, user privacy and cybersecurity threats. On the other hand, the benefits could include significant advances across the branches of science. The paper examines the architectural challenges, draws the comparison between AGI and other AI models, and discusses ethical dilemmas in AGI use. In conclusion, the impact of risks and opportunities is discussed, giving a perspective on the future of AGI and its impact on humanity.
