Intelligent Hand Gesture Recognition for Sign Language Understanding

Swati Srivastava · 2025

Sign language is the foundation of communication for hearing-impaired individuals where complex hand gestures, facial expressions, and body movements are used to express himself to get meaning interaction. It also acts as a bridge which connects individuals across diverse language and cultures which enhances the understanding within different communities. Perceptive and social benefits of learning sign language include improved language ability, intellectual development, and increased cultural gratitude. Although it is significant, however, widespread barriers in the path of adopting sign language remain in recognition. These barriers include limited access to education, and insufficient resources which prevents the full realization of sign language as a tool for communication. Widespread efforts are obligatory to eliminate these barricades confirming balanced access to communication for all individuals irrespective of their hearing ability. These efforts include awareness and promotion for supporting sign language initiatives. Promotion is not just to improve accessibility rather to encourage understanding and promote social integration. Sign language enables the deaf to communicate successfully and participate completely in social, educational, and professional life. It is vital to distinguish the importance of sign language in making a more comprehensive society where everyone's voice is heard and appreciated.
