The Supreme-K project represents a significant milestone in South Korea’s pursuit of technological sovereignty in high-performance computing (HPC). As part of this national initiative, we designed and developed core components of an HPC system–including the AB21 accelerator chip, a customized compute node, and an optimized software stack– through a comprehensive hardware-software co-design approach. The project not only aims to reduce dependence on foreign technologies but also to establish a scalable and efficient HPC ecosystem built on domestic innovations. This paper presents the architecture and implementation of each component, describes the system-level integration and validation methodology, and outlines the future direction of the project toward broader applications and enhanced system scalability.
